Hotels & Travel
Attendees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations directly with their hotel of choice. Blocks of rooms have been reserved at four New Orleans hotels with special rates. Government per diem rates are available at all hotels. The 2012 per diem rate for New Orleans’s has been set, the rate is $135 single/$155 double.
Reservations will be made on a first-come, first-served basis. Please book your reservation at AMS-contracted hotels to help the Society avoid penalties for not filling its hotel block. This will help slow the rate of growth in registration fees. Your guaranteed reservation is only for the date of arrival. Attendees who fail to notify the hotel that they are arriving on a different day will lose their room. Reservations by debit card are not recommended as the hotel will enact a hold on account funds to ensure available funding upon check-out.
Make your reservations early since space is limited. Be sure to indicate that you are with the American Meteorological Society when making reservations to receive AMS special rates.
Shuttle service will be available for guests staying at the Hilton Riverside (Headquarter Hotel) and the Doubletree Hotel (both ~1 mile from the convention center). All other hotels are within 3 blocks of the convention center.
