Student Award Opportunities
The American Meteorological Society would like to make you aware that the following conferences are planning to have student presentation competition and awards at the AMS Annual Meeting, 6-10 January, 2013 in Austin, Texas:
- Robert A. Duce Symposium Student Awards
- Monetary prizes will be given for the best student oral and poster presentations at the 2013 AMS Duce Symposium.In addition, limited travel support is available for students or early career scientists to attend this symposium.
- 27th Conference on Hydrology Student Awards
Awards for Best Poster and Oral Presentations and Student Travel Support
- 25th Conference on Climate Variability and Change Student Poster Competition
The Committee on Climate Variability and Change will conduct a student poster competition for students who enter when they submit their abstracts.
- 19th Conference on Planned and Inadvertent Weather Modification Student Awards
The Committee on Weather Modification of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) is pleased to announce best student awards at the 19th Conference on Planned and Inadvertent Weather Modification. These awards (first and second place) recognize outstanding student contributions based on an evaluation of both the submitted written paper and the corresponding oral or poster presentation.
- 17th Conference on Integrated Observing and Assimilation Systems for the Atmosphere, Oceans, and Land Surface (IOAS-AOLS) Student Partial Travel Support and Prizes
Partial travel support and two prizes will be awarded in recognition of outstanding oral and poster presentations.
- 16th Conference on Aviation, Range, and Aerospace Meteorology Student Awards
The Aviation, Range, and Aerospace Meteorology (ARAM) committee of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) is proud to award a Best Student Prize at the 16th Conference on Aviation, Range, and Aerospace Meteorology.
- 15th Conference on Atmospheric Chemistry Student Awards
Award certificates and cash prizes will be given for the best student oral and poster presentations at the conference. The Atmospheric Chemistry Committee is offering $400 travel awards for two student AMS members who are presenting papers at the conference.
- 10th Conference on Space Weather Student Awards
Awards will be given to the two best student papers.
- Eighth Symposium on Policy and Socio-Economic Research Student Awards
These awards recognize outstanding student contributions based on evaluation of poster and oral presentations made during symposium-led sessions.
- Sixth Conference on the Meteorological Applications of Lightning Data Student Awards
The Student Conference Planning Committee will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in undergraduate and graduate categories for posters displayed during the Student Conference Poster Session.
- Fifth Symposium on Aerosol–Cloud–Climate Interactions Student Awards
These awards will recognize outstanding undergraduate or graduate student contributions based upon their scientific merit, their relationship to the symposium theme of innovative techniques as described in the Call for Papers, and results demonstrated during a submitted oral or poster presentation.
- Third Symposium on Advances in Modeling and Analysis Using Python Student Awards
The planning committee of the Symposium is proud to award a Best Student Paper Prize at the 2013 AMS Python Symposium, held January 6th-10th in Austin, Texas. This award recognizes outstanding student contributions based on an evaluation of both a submitted written paper and corresponding oral or poster presentation.
- First Symposium on Building a Weather-Ready Nation: Enhancing Our Nation’s Readiness, Responsiveness, and Resilience to High Impact Weather Events Student Awards and Partial Travel Support
Partial travel support (conference registration and extended abstract fees) and three prizes (of $200 each) will be awarded in recognition of outstanding oral and poster presentations.
- Special Symposium on Advancing Weather and Climate Forecasts: Innovative Techniques and Applications Student Awards
These awards will recognize outstanding undergraduate or graduate student contributions based upon their scientific merit, their relationship to the symposium theme of innovative techniques as described in the Call for Papers, and results demonstrated during a submitted oral or poster presentation.
