YES develops and manufactures advanced surface and upper air meteorological instrumentation, including the TSI Total Sky Imager, TPS Hotplate met sensor and MFR Rotating Shadowband Radiometer. We'll showcase the Automated Dropsonde Dispenser. In mid-October a high altitude NASA WB-57 deployed 150 XDD dropsondes into hurricane Gonzalo from an altitude of 60,000' via remote control. This ONR-funded effort represents the first test into a major Category IV storm. Each XDD telemeters 4 Hz winds, 2 Hz PTU, plus SST.
