13th Symposium on the Coastal Environment

View Scheduled Presentations in the Scientific Program

The theme for the 2015 AMS Annual Meeting is “Fulfilling the Vision of Weather, Water, and Climate Information for Every Need, Time, and Place”. People, businesses, and governments depend increasingly on weather, water, and climate information matched to their specific needs. This revolution in highly targeted, customized information will make our lives safer, more productive, and more enjoyable. In coastal regions, increasing human involvement through population-related and industrial pressures makes it a particularly important consumer of weather, water and climate information. The 13th Symposium on the Coastal Environment will explore these information needs and solutions in the coastal zones of the world. Potential Session Topics include the following:

  1. Coupling of global, regional and coastal atmospheric and ocean modeling systems
  2. Ensemble forecasting and uncertainty estimates in coastal zones
  3. Ecological forecasting
  4. Coastal climate - observations and modeling
  5. Novel observational techniques
  6. Tools for delivering coastal weather and marine information for every need, time, and place
  7. Case studies
  8. Joint Session: Air-Sea Interaction and the Coastal Environment
  9. Joint Session: Role of Social Science in Coastal Management and Decision-Making
