Information for Employers

Participating in the AMS Career Fair is the perfect way for your organization to attract the attention of the more than 2,500 students, recent graduates, and professionals expected to attend the AMS Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.  The AMS Career Fair provides an environment to showcase full-time and part-time job opportunities, graduate programs, and professional development opportunities.  Whether you have jobs to fill or career advice to share, our attendees want to talk to you!

The Career Fair opens on Saturday, January 21, with a reception for the 400 graduate students and junior and senior undergraduate students expected to attend the 11th Annual AMS Student Conference.  The Career Fair continues on Sunday, January 22 and Monday, January 23 and is open to all Annual Meeting attendees.  The hours of operation for Saturday through Monday are as follows:

Saturday 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Sunday 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

Monday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to promote your organization and to network with qualified applicants.  Registration is free of charge to Sustaining, Regular, and Small Business AMS Corporation and Institutional Members (CIMs); the registration fee for all other organizations, including Publication CIMs, is $100. All recruiters are provided with one 6’ table, two chairs, and post-conference access to Career Fair attendee resumes.  To reserve space at the 2012 event, please complete a reservation form and return it by email to bfarley@ametsoc.org or by fax to 617-742-8718 no later than November 30, 2011.  Space is limited so requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis.  Specific information about the Career Fair will be emailed to you after we receive your reservation.

If you are unable to reserve table space or if you can’t attend the Annual Meeting, simply provide us with a copy of your job announcement(s) by December 16 and we’ll post them to our ‘Positions Available’ board.  Please submit job postings as an attached Word document or PDF by email to careerfair@ametsoc.org and include information on how interested applicants may contact you.  Those recruiters who are attending the meeting but cannot meet the deadline may drop off their announcement during Sunday and Monday’s hours of operation.

Sponsorship opportunities exist!  Contact Stephanie Armstrong, Director of Development, 617-226-3906; armstrong@ametsoc.org.

Information for Job Seekers

The Career Fair is an excellent opportunity to interview on-site, one-on-one, with organizations looking to recruit highly talented individuals.  View available employment opportunities, present resumes to employers who are seeking qualified applicants, and apply for positions all in one convenient location…and all at no cost!

On the evening of Saturday, January 21, the Career Fair will open with a reception for attendees of the 11th Annual AMS Student Conference. This is a great opportunity for you to meet with employer and graduate school representatives in an informal setting and to schedule interviews for later in the week.  There is no cost to attend this opening night reception but you must be registered for the Student Conference.  If you plan on attending the AMS Annual Meeting but are not eligible for the Student Conference, you may attend the Career Fair during its regular hours of operation (Sunday 5:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m., and Monday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.).

While it is not necessary to register for participation in the Career Fair, you are encouraged to submit a copy of your resume to AMS Headquarters as an attached Word document or PDF to careerfair@ametsoc.org. All resumes that are received by January 6 will be forwarded to interested employers and graduate schools after the meeting. If you cannot meet the deadline of January 6, you may drop off your resume during the Career Fair's hours of operation. All resumes will be on display at the Career Fair Information Desk for the week of the Annual Meeting.  Please note that we cannot accept resumes from those not registered for either the Student Conference or the Annual Meeting.
