Conference Program
View by day or program, includes author index and personal scheduler

The 24th Conference on Climate Variability and Change, sponsored by the American Meteorological Society, and organized by the AMS Committee on Climate Variability and Change, will be held 22–26 January 2012, as part of the 92nd AMS Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Papers for this conference are solicited on all aspects of climate variability and change. One area of emphasis this year is “technology,” such as super computing, new satellite observations, and machine learning (e.g. statistical modeling and pattern recognition) in climate research. In addition to papers on more general climate variability and change topics, the Committee on Climate Variability and Change is seeking oral and poster presentations on:
• High-resolution climate modeling,
• Climate applications of satellite observations,
• Changes in extremes (drought, floods, heat waves) under climate change,
• Arctic and high latitude climate variability,
• Tropical climate variability,
• Detection and Attribution of climate change, and
• Climate prediction from seasonal to centennial timescales.

Additionally the Committee on Climate Variability and Change will conduct a student poster competition for students who enter when they submit their abstracts. Students must be the first author of the poster and presenting their own, original work.

For additional information please contact the program chairperson(s), Michelle L’Heureux (email: Michelle.LHeureux@noaa.gov), Aiguo Dai (email: adai@ucar.edu), and David R. Easterling (email: David.Easterling@noaa.gov). (3/11)
