A one-day Special Symposium on “Technological Advances: Impacts on Hurricane Research and Forecast Improvements”, sponsored by the American Meteorological Society, and organized by the AMS Committee on Hurricanes and Tropical Meteorology, will be held 25 January 2012, as part of the 92nd AMS Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. In concert with the overarching theme of the Annual Meeting, this symposium will feature invited speakers from several aspects related to hurricanes, with a focus on how rapidly evolving technology has impacted the analysis, research, forecasting and warning of these events.
