T. N. Krishnamurti Symposium
The Krishnamurti Symposium, sponsored by the American Meteorological Society, will be held on 26 January 2012, as part of the 92nd AMS Annual Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Symposium is an event to honor the scientific contributions of Professor T. N. Krishnamurti to the fields of tropical meteorology and numerical weather prediction.
The Symposium will consist of invited oral presentations and a poster session. Papers for this session are solicited on all topics related to the many areas of atmospheric science advanced by T. N. Krishnamurti’s research, including global and regional observational studies; tropical waves, depressions, cyclones and hurricanes; monsoon meteorology; and numerical weather prediction (numerical techniques, physical initialization, convective parameterization, and ensemble forecasting). An AMS Monograph on a subset of these topics is also planned.
A luncheon in Dr. Krishnamurti’s honor will be held on Thursday, 26 January. The Krishnamurti luncheon ticket is not included in the conference registration package and must be purchased separately. We encourage you to purchase tickets when preregistering, since only a limited number will be available on-site.
