MODEM is a front-runner manufacturer of Upper-Air sounding systems and associated radiosondes. Thanks to a significant presence worldwide (More than 40 NMSs from different countries across all continents are currently operating MODEM radiosondes routinely), we have actually grown into a major player in this specific business.
During AMS 2013, we’ll be pleased to present our latest developments such as:
• «Artic version» of our Robotsonde (Automatic balloon launcher)
Our standard Robotsonde system has been specifically redesigned for polar weather conditions (Cold temperature combined with strong winds). This new model has been installed at Tasiilaq (Greeland) and is routinely operated by DMI Denmark and fully integrated to the Upper-Air observation network.
• Light Optical Aerosol Counter (LOAC)
Developed in cooperation with French research institute LCP2E-CNRS, LOAC determines the concentration of aerosols (numbers of aerosols per cm3) for 20 size classes between 0.3 and 100 µm (with 10 size classes between 0.3 and 5 µm). The instrument can be used to document the physical properties of aerosols in the lower and middle atmosphere during specific events like pollution, transported sands, volcanic ashes, and for long-term monitoring An integrated solution including LOAC and M10 GPS radiosonde is available for launches under meteorological balloons with a total payload less than 1 kg. In this configuration, the instrument provides real time data using the radiosonde telemetry

Our solutions use an open standards-based SOA built on commodity hardware and high performance compute environments with a data processing framework that delivers improved functionality at a competitive price. The SOA-based ground systems support multiple tenants and sensor data across a cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) with cloud resource management capabilities. Solers is the prime contractor developing the Environmental Satellite Processing and Distribution System (ESPDS) for NOAA/NESDIS, migrating the Environmental Satellite Processing Center (ESPC) away from “stove-piped” product generation and distribution systems to a common/converged ground segment. Learn more at these Solers’ presentations: • 5:00 PM, Tuesday, 8 January - “Dynamic Resource Virtualization for Future NOAA Satellite Data Distribution” • 10:30 AM, Wednesday, 9 January - “Suomi NPP Data Exploitation - Product Algorithm Integration made Simple” • 9:15 AM, Thursday, 10 January - “NOAA Product Distribution & Access - Where it is going and what can I expect?”
