16th Conference on Aviation, Range, and Aerospace Meteorology (ARAM)

The 16th ARAM Conference will showcase significant scientific initiatives, advances, and accomplishments from all areas of aviation, range, and aerospace meteorology. Along the overarching theme for the 93rd AMS Annual Meeting, “Taking Predictions to the Next Level: Expanding Beyond Today's Weather, Water, and Climate Forecasting and Projections”, the ARAM Conference will emphasize contributions that demonstrate broader benefits to society. Papers are sought on all aspects of observation and analysis of the atmospheric environment and applications to forecasting, communication, and operational planning or use of aviation, range, and aerospace systems. Contributions that highlight weather impacts and quantify benefits of enhanced weather prediction capabilities to user applications are particularly encouraged. This conference is soliciting contributions from both the weather information providers and the consumers of such information to facilitate stimulating discussions that foster a better understanding of the user needs and weather prediction capabilities and limitations.
Abstracts may be submitted under the following broad topics:
- Impacts of atmospheric conditions on operations
- Analysis or characterization of the effects of atmospheric conditions on aviation, range, and aerospace operations, flight and mission planning, and accident mitigation;
- Observing systems and measurements of atmospheric conditions that affect aviation, range, and aerospace operations, flight and mission planning;
- Predictions of atmospheric conditions that affect aviation, range, and aerospace operations, flight and mission planning;
- Impacts of operations on environment
- Analysis or characterization of the impacts of aviation, range, and aerospace operations on the environment;
- Observing systems and measurements of environmental impacts resulting from aviation, range, and aerospace operations;
- Predictions of the environmental impacts resulting from aviation, range, and aerospace operations;
- Integrated Approaches
- Integration of observed and predicted atmospheric conditions into decision support tools for current or future use in aviation, range, and aerospace operations, and flight and mission planning, that will increase safety and efficiency while also reduce environmental impacts;
- Quantification of benefits based on using decision support tools that incorporate atmospheric conditions and environmental impacts;
- Programmatic, policy and regulatory aspects as they relate to enhancing the safety and efficiency of aviation, range, and aerospace operations while also aiming to reduce environmental impacts.
The ARAM Committee is proud to continue awarding a Best Student Paper prize. This award recognizes outstanding student contributions based on an evaluation of both the submitted written paper and corresponding oral or poster presentation. Contenders for the award will have to be enrolled at a University (either at the undergraduate or graduate level), be the lead-author, and personally make the presentation of their work. Students who wish to be considered for this prize should indicate that when submitting their abstract. Previous winners of this prize are no longer eligible. Please encourage your student colleagues to submit a contribution to this opportunity of getting recognized for their important work.
