Call for Papers

Papers for this conference are solicited on topics dealing with ALL aspects of air pollution meteorology ranging from the microscale to the global scale and including field and laboratory measurements, instrumentation, theoretical studies, numerical modeling, evaluation studies and applications.  We are encouraging papers on transport and dispersion modeling systems, urban meteorology and dispersion, and regional to global scale transport and dispersion.

Sessions will be held on the role of technology in air pollution applications, air pollution instrumentation, turbulence measurements, deposition and resuspension, the impact of urban vegetation/trees on local air pollution, regulatory air quality models, advances in aerosol prediction and chemical data assimilation and improvements in emissions for air quality prediction, the effects of meteorology on air quality, wind-tunnel and flume experiments, forest fire emissions, and dust transport.  Topics cover complex terrain, urban flows, urban planning, and impact of bio environments on air pollution. New-generation mesoscale to urban scale modeling capabilities for air pollution research and prediction session is organized together with the 11th Symposium on the Urban Environment

Special joint session with Coastal Environment will be held on Fukushima nuclear disaster and coupling between meteorology and CFD (computational fluid dynamics) on air pollution studies in the areas where both meteorology and CFD are important.  Multidisciplinary studies, including architecture, urban planning, and laboratory experiments are also encouraged.

A special session will be dedicated to recent MATERHORN project.

The conference has and a special topic on the Impacts of climate change on extreme air pollution meteorology.  Extreme meteorological events such as heat waves, atmospheric stagnation, temperature inversion, lightning, etc have very important implications for air pollution. On the other hands, these extreme meteorological events may be significantly affected by climate change. This session will look at these impacts in the past and future decades.

Award certificates and cash prizes will be given for the best student oral and poster presentations at the conference. There will be awards for a best overall presentation ($200), a best poster award ($200), a best oral presentation ($200), a best technical content award ($200), a 2nd place oral award ($100) and a 2nd place poster award ($100).
