Women in the Atmospheric Sciences Luncheon: A Conversation about the Future

Wednesday, 5 February, 12:00–1:30 P.M.; Room C112

How can AMS best welcome and advance all its members, especially those from groups that have historically been in the minority or even unrecognized? What changes are necessary as AMS becomes more diverse? What new activities might AMS initiate? How might this luncheon evolve?

This year’s luncheon will be an opportunity to reflect on these and related questions. Christine Wiedinmyer, one of the leaders of the Earth Science Women's Network, will seed the conversation with her observations and suggestions. Donna Charlevoix, member of the AMS Board on Women and Minorities, will moderate the session, which will include time for small-group conversations and larger-group discussions. A real-time twitter conversation will allow virtual participation. Input from the conversation will be used to shape the activities of the Board of Women and Minorities and future luncheons. Lockheed Martin Corporation and Harris Corporation will provide a limited number of box lunches.
