Call for Papers
The theme for the 2016 AMS Annual Meeting, “Earth System Science in Service to Society”, weaves the many parts of AMS into a common core. Emphasizing the academic and research strength of AMS, the theme also connects that research to the benefits that society gains from our science. AMS merges the physical, chemical, and biological study of the Earth with human-centered “domains of action”: (1) Observing, (2) Analysis and research leading to understanding, (3) Modeling and prediction, and (4) Social sciences – how people deal with this information.
The 32nd Conference on Environmental Information Processing Technologies (EIPT) is soliciting papers and posters that demonstrate successes and advances in interactive computing tools; technologies and observing systems; data management and communication related to advances in observations, modeling, new technologies and media; cyberinfrastructure; and applications that address the ability to provide information to a wide audience at any time, for any purpose.
The theme of the 2016 AMS Annual Meeting also allows for exploration of an array of topics including technological advances that leading to effective strategies for communication; social and policy theory; adaptation; mitigation; intervention; emergency response; and public behavior or perceptions. Further, the timeliness of the topic and its broad accessibility to the scientific, stakeholder and public communities should make it particularly appealing to many segments of our traditional AMS community, as well as nontraditional communities.
Student Award Opportunities
The AMS Board on Environmental Information Processing Technologies is proud to award six student prizes at the 32nd Conference on Environmental Information Processing Technologies (EIPT). These awards recognize outstanding student contributions based on an evaluation of both the submitted written paper and corresponding oral or poster presentation.
