97th AMS Annual Meeting | 22–26 January 2017 | Seattle, WA

Tour of the Bullitt Center

Thursday, 26 January 2017, 2:30–3:30 P.M. and 3:30–4:30 P.M.

The Symposium on Greening the Built Environment is sponsoring two technical tours (one at 2:30 and one at 3:30) of the Bullitt Center, a six-story, 52,000 square-foot building that meets the net-zero-energy, net-zero-water “Living Building Challenge,” and is considered to be America’s greenest office building.   The tours will be lead by volunteer docents from the CID, a collaborative between the University of Washington Integrated Design Lab and the Bullitt Foundation. The tours will begin in the second floor lobby adjacent to Hammer and Hand and in front of the living wall. Tours will highlight the building design strategies that help it meet the Living Building Challenge. Tours include the building’s mechanical and electrical rooms, the gray water and rainwater treatment systems, non-flush toilets and the “irresistible” stairway.

While tour tickets are complimentary, attendees must have a ticket, which will be collected before the tour, in order to attend. Tickets can be obtained when registering for the Annual Meeting. Those who have tickets should meet the tour group at the UW Center for Integrated Design, located on the second floor of the Bullitt Center (1501 E. Madison Street). Enter on Madison Ave, the north side of the building. The Bullitt Center can be reached via a 9-minute bus ride from the Washington State Convention Center (route #11, Madison Park, $2.50 one way, departing Pine St. and 9th Ave. every 15 minutes). The symposium and the tour are sponsored by the AMS Committee on Environmental Stewardship.
