Statistical applications relevant to any area of atmospheric science, but particularly to communicating probabilistic information and predictive skill
New statistical applications or methodologies are of particular interest including statistical applications related to the following topics
sub-seasonal to seasonal (S2S) prediction and predictability
ensemble and multi-model ensemble forecasting methods
ensemble post-processing, artificial intelligence, machine-learning and decision making
process-oriented model evaluation and prediction
extreme value analysis and prediction
climate change and non-stationarity in analysis and prediction
statistically derived forecasts
decision support and climate services
handling observational uncertainty
metrics for convection allowing prediction (CAMs)
score-carding and indexing
revision series analysis, forecast consistency, big data and other topics of probability, statistics and verification.

Student Award Opportunities
The Probability and Statistics committee will provide two travel awards of $700.00 for students who have submitted an abstract to the P&S conference or have an interest in attending the conference. There is a October 1, 2017 deadline to apply for travel support. Students who wish to apply are required to submit the following documents in a single PDF document: a current CV/Resume and statement of why they want to attend the meeting, including their interests in probability and statistics, and a letter of recommendation from their advisor. Please send the document to Scott Sellars, scottsellars@ucsd.edu, and enter "AMS Probability and Statistics Award Travel" as the subject line in the email.
