The National Weather Service (NWS) Austin-San Antonio Forecast Office and Texas A&M University will present daily weather briefings at the 2018 AMS Annual Meeting. These 30-minute briefings will provide analyses and forecasts of major national weather features and impacts, with focus on central Texas weather affecting the meeting. In addition to analysis and predictions, students will explain unique factors for the region, such as the Gulf of Mexico; and orographic influences of the Balcones Escarpment, Texas Hill Country, and Serranias del Burro mountains of Mexico. In addition, these discussions will spotlight regional high-resolution deterministic and ensemble forecasts, including the Texas Tech WRF. The briefings will also include a space weather segment by a representative of the NWS Space Weather Prediction Center.
