The theme of the 2025 AMS Annual Meeting, which is "Toward a Thriving Planet: Charting a Course Across Scales" addresses the impacts of global environmental changes on physical, societal, cultural, and economic systems across space and time scales. Throughout the week of the Annual Meeting, daily Presidential Sessions will address a variety of topics to highlight actionable science for the Society at large that aims to chart a future course for a more resilient and thriving planet.
This symposium is to honor Dr. Gerald (Jerry) A. Meehl for his sustained and outstanding service to the climate research community and his pioneering and fundamental research using coupled climate models to address challenging problems facing the climate research community. Dr. Meehl is a nationally and internationally recognized leader in climate dynamics, climate change, and climate modeling and decadal prediction
This Symposium will honor and continue the leadership of Dr. Heather Lazrus in moving AMS and the Nation towards advancing the weaving together Indigenous knowledges and scientific methodologies with other atmospheric and earth sciences.
