This named Symposium will honor and continue the leadership of Heather Lazrus in moving AMS and the Nation towards advancing the weaving together of Indigenous knowledges and sciences and other atmospheric and earth sciences. Heather initiated this work within AMS nearly a decade ago and the 2024 Symposium on Convergence Science is the latest reflection of AMS embracing and advancing this important work. Sadly, Heather passed from cancer in early 2023. Her AMS colleagues and collaborators in the Rising Voices Center for Indigenous and Earth Sciences (which Heather co-founded), Haskell Indian Nations University, NSF NCAR and elsewhere continue this important work. Heather's seminal work and leadership will be recognized at the symposium at the 2025 Annual Meeting in New Orleans.
Please note that abstracts for this symposium are by invite only.
