Call for Papers

The theme for the 105th AMS Annual Meeting is “Towards a Thriving Planet: Charting the Course Across Scales.” Through the Symposium on Careers in Operational Government Meteorology and Hydrology, we are exploring how individuals and agencies are charting their courses through their respective careers and decades. The symposium chairs are soliciting abstracts on the following topics:

  • Making the Switch: Career Transitions in Operational Government Meteorology
  • Ridges and Troughs: The Realities of Operational Government Meteorology and Hydrology
  • Setting Forth: Early Career Opportunities in Operational Government Meteorology and Hydrology
  • Bridging the Gap: Navigating Generational Diversity in the Workplace
  • The Road Less Traveled: Uncommon Career Paths within Operational Meteorology
  • Impact-Based Decision Support Services And Water Resources: Case Studies From National Weather Service River Forecast Centers And The National Water Center
