WeatherFest

The AMS 13th Annual WeatherFest is coming to Atlanta!

WeatherFest is an interactive science and weather fair for weather enthusiasts of all ages. Children and parents are invited to come to WeatherFest to see weather-related demonstrations, participate in hands-on activities, and even give the weather forecast in front of an actual television green screen! There will be games, give-aways, and more! Make plans to bring your children to this fun, educational, and engaging event. Hosted by the American Meteorological Society.

What is WeatherFest?
WeatherFest is an interactive four-hour science and weather fair designed to instill a love for math and science in children of all ages and to spark a young person’s interest in this area so they may consider a career in these and other science and engineering fields. This event provides a unique opportunity for your organization to reach a targeted audience of weather enthusiasts and to support education and outreach for the atmospheric and related sciences. The event is free to exhibit and free to attend!

When is WeatherFest?
WeatherFest, sponsored by the American Meteorological Society, will be held on Sunday, 2 February 2014, from 12:00–4:00 p.m.

Where is WeatherFest?
WeatherFest 2014 will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta (Hall C3).

Who can attend?
WeatherFest is a public event open to everyone, and geared toward K-12 students.  We’ll have nearly 70 cool and interactive science exhibits including hands-on experiments, educational information, career guides and much more. If you can’t join us as an exhibitor, please mark your calendar for this free, family event.  This is a fun afternoon designed not only for the residents of Atlanta but for all attending the annual meeting.

For additional information, contact one of the program Chairpersons: Teri Eastburn ([email protected]), Viviane Silva ([email protected]), or Ron Gird ([email protected]).

How do I become an exhibitor at WeatherFest?
The AMS is accepting WeatherFest Exhibitor applications on a first-come, first serve basis, until all space is filled. We love to have hands-on, interactive experiments and booths by teachers and scientists from government, university, television, radio and private industry. The booth space is free of charge for all exhibitors. All you need to do is staff your booth with enthusiastic persons that can capture the imagination of children of all ages.
