One-session speaker passes are available by request only for invited speakers and panelists in sessions or town halls who would not normally attend the full AMS Annual Meeting (e.g., community leaders, educators, journalists, policymakers, or specialists from adjacent fields). These passes are not available to those already registered, affiliated with sponsoring/exhibiting organizations, or who have misused the pass in the past. Each pass grants access to a single session (including setup and Q&A) and is limited to 30 minutes before and after the session, with no access to other events or areas. Requests must come from program chairs or session organizers and include the speaker’s name, affiliation, session details, and justification. Passes are subject to AMS approval and limited in number. Approved speakers must adhere to AMS policies, pick up a badge onsite, or will receive a Zoom link if participating virtually. Only one session pass per person is allowed and cannot be upgraded or transferred.
AMS offers a program to provide financial assistance through complimentary or reduced registration fees. Funding for this program is limited. Priority will be given to individuals who are taking an active part in the Annual Meeting, whether through presentation, program/session organization etc. Please note that this financial support applies only to registration fees (in-person or virtual) and does not cover travel or lodging expenses.
This funding covers registration fees, transportation, food, and/or lodging for invited speakers. Registration is handled before travel during the early registration period. Reimbursement is processed post-meeting. Requests must come from program chairs.
The Core Science Keynote (CSK) series features invited talks that explore the foundational knowledge, history, and key research challenges across disciplines that drive our field forward. These presentations are designed to be accessible to all AMS attendees, offering insights into both the current state of knowledge and promising directions for the future.
Presenting a Core Science Keynote is a special honor—an opportunity to recognize both established experts and emerging leaders. They are submitted by program chairs and approved by the Overall Planning Committee. The abstract fee is waived for Core Science Keynote Speakers.

Submitters should indicate their eligibility for student awards when submitting their abstracts.
*Judging criteria can be found on each participating conference and symposia’s webpage. Conferences and symposia hosting student presentation competitions can be found here.
The American Meteorological Society is offering child care grants of up to $400 per family to assist conference attendees who will incur additional expenses by attending the Annual Meeting. Limited funds are available, and preference is given to applicants in the early stages of their career. As a secondary criterion, preference will be given to applicants who explain clearly why a grant to support childcare, dependent care or their own assistance is necessary.
