Following the AMS mission to work for “the benefit of society,” is the fact that society is PEOPLE and the AMS is composed of PEOPLE supporting PEOPLE in the weather, water, and climate enterprise. Sandwiched between what we do as PEOPLE and “the benefit of society” is research, technology, data, protocols and communication. For us to be the best PEOPLE we can be, we start with being healthy, happy and fulfilled. As professionals we aim to educate and propagate knowledge formally and informally, applied to everyday life, to create a more aware, enlightened, engaged and resilient population of all PEOPLE, on all levels. Knowledge of science leads to efficiency and lower costs for agencies, organizations and businesses, with healthier outcomes and lower risk for communities and PEOPLE.
From severe and disruptive weather to climate change, artificial intelligence, energy, natural resources, public policy, human health and safety, just to name a few, topics in the atmospheric and related sciences are as varied as we individuals are. Like PEOPLE, they all need attention and respect.
At the AMS 2027 Annual Meeting in Denver, pump up your passion, rejuvenate your education, research, consulting, forecasting, products, policies, lesson plans and presentations with the end-user in mind - PEOPLE. Walk away with a smile from the satisfaction of gathering and sharing ideas and knowledge with old and new colleagues, collaborators and friends, mentors and mentees, to ultimately serve and benefit all PEOPLE.
