AMS offers a program to provide financial assistance through complimentary or reduced registration fees. Funding for this program is limited. Priority will be given to individuals who are taking an active part in the Annual Meeting, whether through presentation, program/session organization etc. Please note that this financial support applies only to registration fees (in-person or virtual) and does not cover travel or lodging expenses, and does not apply to the Student Conference registration fee.

Recipients will be provided with hotel accommodations (rooms are shared at the discretion of AMS staff but with an option for roommate request), meeting registration (student conference and short courses not included), and a stipend, which will be provided after the meeting, to help offset travel costs.

This support* can be used to offset registration fees, transportation, lodging, and/or meals for students attending the Annual Meeting. Presenting Status may be required based on the program. Travel, food, and lodging reimbursement occurs post-meeting. Registration is processed before travel during early registration. Students must apply for allowances via an online application and must be enrolled at a college or university through the application deadline and the Annual Meeting. Students will be notified directly by the program chairs of the specific conference or symposium to which they applied regarding the status of their application.

Student Presentation Awards are provided to outstanding student oral and poster presentations. Students must be enrolled at a college or university at the time of submission, and they must be the lead author and personally present the work at the meeting. Monetary awards of up to $200 will be distributed for oral presentations and poster presentations in addition to a PDF certificate from AMS. Submitters should indicate their eligibility for student awards when submitting their abstracts.

The American Meteorological Society is offering child care grants of up to $400 per family to assist conference attendees who will incur additional expenses by attending the Annual Meeting. Limited funds are available, and preference is given to applicants in the early stages of their career. As a secondary criterion, preference will be given to applicants who explain clearly why a grant to support childcare, dependent care or their own assistance is necessary.
