Student Travel Grants

Share, learn, and collaborate at the AMS Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado!

The AMS Annual Meeting Student Travel Grant Program provides an outstanding opportunity for students to attend the world's largest annual gathering of the weather, water, and climate community. Through this program, AMS seeks to encourage meaningful engagement among students, their peers, and professionals across the enterprise.

Travel grant recipients will receive:

  • Hotel accommodations during the meeting (rooms may be shared at the discretion of AMS staff; applicants may request a preferred roommate)
  • Registration for the AMS Annual Meeting (Student Conference registration and short courses are not included)
  • A stipend to help offset travel expenses

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be an active AMS student member for 2026
  • Be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student
  • Not be presenting a paper at the AMS Annual Meeting

Please note: Presentations at the Student Conference do not affect eligibility for this program.

Students who are not currently AMS student members should apply for 2026 membership before submitting a travel grant application. Membership must be active by the application deadline of September 18, 2026. Learn more about AMS membership on the AMS website.

Application Process

The application portal opens on July 29, 2026.

To apply:

  1. Visit the AMS Student Travel Grant webpage on or after July 29, 2026.
  2. Access the application portal using the provided link.
  3. Log in with your AMS profile credentials.
  4. Select "AMS Annual Meeting Student Travel Grant Program" from the list of available opportunities.
  5. Complete and submit the online application.

Applications will be reviewed after the September 18, 2026 submission deadline. Due to the competitive nature of the program, only selected recipients will be notified by email.
