For the Press

The AMS 104th Annual Meeting offers many opportunities for journalists to learn the state of scientific advancement in weather, climate, and water-related disciplines. It is also a chance to locate sources and speak with experts across disciplines about newsworthy issues. Eligible members of the press and public information officers may register to attend the meeting for free (see below). AMS staff will be available to help you navigate the meeting and make connections.

For questions regarding press registration or other media issues, please contact Rachel Thomas-Medwid.

Register for the Meeting as a Journalist

Eligibility for press registration is limited to the working press and freelance science writers with appropriate credentials, as well as public information officers of scientific societies, educational institutions, and government agencies. While on-site attendance is a great opportunity, we also offer a full hybrid meeting experience for those who cannot make it to Baltimore.

Fill out this form to request press registration information. Please note, this form does NOT count as registration for the meeting. Your request will be reviewed, and upon acceptance you will receive a follow-up email with details on completing the official online registration process.

In completing AMS Press Registration, the following conditions must be agreed to:

  • No videotaping is allowed within session rooms.
  • Press members are expected to adhere to the same guidelines as attendees when it comes to Professional and Respectful Conduct at AMS Meetings.
  • Press credentials are provided as a courtesy by AMS and may be revoked by AMS if in its sole judgment an attendee’s presence at the meeting is in any way disruptive.

The deadline for press registration is January 12, 2024.
