2015 AMS Annual Meeting

The theme for the 2015 AMS Annual Meeting is “Fulfilling the Vision of Weather, Water, and Climate Information for Every Need, Time, and Place”. People, businesses, and governments depend increasingly on weather, water, and climate information matched to their specific needs. We are converging on a day when such information is integrated into nearly every decision or action people take. This revolution in highly targeted, customized information - delivered when and where it is most useful - will make our lives safer, more productive, and more enjoyable.  The challenge for our community is this: collaborate and innovate to develop – and ultimately deliver – actionable, user-specific weather, water, and climate information across all spatial and temporal scales in support of our nation’s safety, health, and prosperity.  The meeting will explore the many topics required for our community to implement this vision.

The Conference on Atmospheric Chemistry is soliciting papers on all aspects of atmospheric chemistry and air quality, including field and laboratory measurements and chemical transport modeling from urban to global scales.  This year the conference is organizing special session on the following topics:  

1. Atmospheric Convection: Impact on Atmospheric Composition and Chemistry (organized by Jonathan Jiang, JPL)
2. Urban Chemical Cartography: Charting Spatial Gradients with Novel Measurement Platforms (organized by Eduardo Olaguer, HARC)
3. Cloud and Fog Chemistry, Biology, and Deposition (organized by Jeff Collet, CSU)

4. Atmospheric Reactive Nitrogen: Sources, Transport, Deposition, and Impacts (organized by Joel Thornton, UW)
5. Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Measurements, Processes and Impacts (organized by Abhishek Chatterjee, NCAR ; Sean Crowell, OU; Berrien Moore III, OU)
6. Marine Aerosols: Sources, Chemistry, Clouds and Climate (joint with 19^th Conf. on Air-Sea Interactions and 7^th Symp. on Aerosol-Cloud-Climate Interactions, organized Phil Rausch, PNNL and Nicholas Meskhidze, NCSU)

7. Soil dust: Lofting and Transport, Characterization, and Interactions with Clouds and Storms (joint with 7^th Symp. on Aerosol-Cloud-Climate Interactions, organized by Ottmar Moehler, KIT)
8. Air pollution observation and modeling in Mega-cities (joint with the Board on Urban Environment)

A special collection in a AMS journal J. Atmos. Sci. titled "Aerosol-Cloud-Precipitation-Climate Interactions" is being organized by the AMS Committee on Atmospheric Chemistry to solicit papers from attendees of both the Atmospheric Chemistry Conference and Symposium on Aerosol-Cloud-Climate Interactions in 2014 and 2015.
