New Events at the 95th Annual Meeting
In addition to the great program we have put together, this Annual Meeting will feature many new exciting events:
- Arizona Science Center Reception
- Monday, 5 January, 7:00–10:30 P.M.; Arizona Science Center IMax Theater
All are invited to attend the reception at the Arizona Science Center which will feature a demonstration of Water Sim—an interactive decision support tool for water resources and "23|5 Talks," an hour-long set of public talks will follow the format of the well-known Technology, Entertainment, Design (TED) talks. This year, our speakers will present topics of interest to the general public and Phoenix in particular.
- Volunteer Opportunities
Annual Meeting attendees are are needed for a Weather-Ready Nation program for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. 25 professionals and/or graduate students with advanced standing are also needed as volunteer judges for 4th Annual Student Conference Poster Contest
- Town Hall Meeting: New Ideas Forum: Networking and Idea Exchange for Student and Early Career Members
- Tuesday, 6 January 2015; 12:15–1:15 p.m.; Room 126A
We are introducing The New Ideas Forum as a way for attendees to provide a brief, informal overview of their current and future interests in a collegial setting. Informal discussions are encouraged across all aspects of our discipline, including basic science, applied science, education, new technology, policy interests, or future directions you feel our field may be headed.
- Core Science Keynotes
The Core Science Keynotes series is a new element of the AMS Annual Meeting. It is intended to highlight, discipline by discipline, the foundational knowledge and research challenges that drive our field forward as a whole.
