19th Annual AMS Student Conference and Career Fair Registration

The registration rate is $60 before 15 December, 2019. The registration rate is $80 after 15 December.

Registration must be completed online.

The Student Conference is pleased to offer interactive sessions spanning a wide variety of topics on Sunday afternoon at no additional cost. The interactive sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis for registrants interested in their particular topics. You may register for these during the online registration process.  As the interactive sessions run concurrently, only ONE session may be chosen per attendee.

 

  • Integrated Warning Team IIa: In Their Rainboots Workshop

Immerse yourself in emergency management during a mock severe weather event by collaborating with professionals from the broadcast, public, and emergency management sectors. Through this session you will be familiarized with the Integrated Warning Team and learn how the physical and social sciences intertwine to support decision-making.

  • Résumé Workshop II: Résumé/CV Review

Get tailored, one-on-one feedback from job recruiters and professionals across the many sectors of the weather enterprise. To participate, you’ll need to bring a paper copy of your résumé or CV to this interactive session. 

  • Broadcast Tape Swap 

Receive constructive criticism on your reel tapes from a panel of professional broadcast meteorologists. Any Student Conference registrant can attend this session; sign up only you want to submit a tape. Participants will receive separate instructions on how to film and upload their reel tapes.

  •  Python Workshop

Python is a scripting language quickly gaining traction in the meteorological community for its versatility in doing everything from downloading data from a website to plotting 3D graphics. This Unidata-sponsored workshop is applicable to Pythonistas of all levels. Be sure to bring your laptop!

  •  Bystander Training 

Learn what constitutes healthy learning and working environments. This training will focus on preventing, responding to, and promoting awareness of sexual and other types of harassment in the university and workplace. This training is sponsored by the NSF ADVANCEGeo Partnership.

On-site registration is available on a space available basis ONLY. The on-site registration rate is $80.

On the evening of Saturday, January 11, the Career Fair reception is free and open only to attendees of the 19th Annual AMS Student Conference.

On Sunday the Career Fair is free for all attendees.
