Informing Cultural Change Through Data

(Joint with Fourth Symposium on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)

Session 3: Tuesday, 10 January 2023, 10:45-12:00 PM MT

Colorado Convention Center - Mile High Ballroom 2B/3B

Joint Conferences:

AMS is initiating an Equity Assessment (EA) process that will assess the current state of our organization’s policies and practices. From this assessment, we will be more intentional with our goals around equity, inclusion, and justice (EIJ), develop strategies to fully integrate EIJ into programmatic activities and policies, foster a sense of belonging for our membership, and guide the activities of the Society over the short- and long-term. In this Presidential Session, Creating Cultural Change Through Data, the panel of EIJ leaders will share how data collection has informed EIJ strategic planning and impacted equity work at their organizations. The AMS Director of DEI and Chair of the Culture and Inclusion Cabinet will introduce the EA roadmap for the AMS and opportunities for the AMS community to engage throughout the process. Later in the week, we will hold a town hall where all AMS members are invited to engage in community conversations to understand the EA process, brainstorm what data we need to collect, and ask questions about the process.
