Bob Inglis is the Executive Director of republicEn.org. He was elected to the U.S. Congress in 1992, having never run for office before. He represented Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina, from 1993-1998, unsuccessfully challenged U.S. Senator Fritz Hollings in 1998, and then returned to the practice of commercial real estate law in Greenville, S.C. In 2004, he was re-elected to Congress and served until losing re- election in the South Carolina Republican primary of 2010.

In 2011, Inglis went full-time into promoting free enterprise action on climate change and launched the Energy and Enterprise Initiative (“E&EI”) at George Mason University in July 2012. In the fall of 2014, E&EI rebranded to become republicEn.org.

republicEn is a growing grassroots community of over 20,000 Americans educating the country about free-enterprise solutions to climate change. The organization is a 501(c)(3) operation hosted at the George Mason University Foundation and educates, recruits and organizes conservative voices for action on climate change.

For his work on climate change Inglis was given the 2015 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. He appears in the film Merchants of Doubt and in the Showtime series YEARS of Living Dangerously (episodes 3 and 4), and he’s spoken at TEDxBeaconStreet (watch) and TEDxJacksonville (watch).

Inglis was a Resident Fellow at Harvard University’s Institute of Politics in 2011, a Visiting Energy Fellow at Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment in 2012, and Resident Fellow at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics in 2014.

Inglis grew up in the Lowcountry of South Carolina, went to Duke University for college, met and married his college sweetheart, graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law and practiced commercial real estate law in Greenville, S.C., before and between his years in Congress. Bob and Mary Anne Inglis have five children (a son and four daughters). They live on a small farm in northern Greenville County, South Carolina.

Dr. Kerry Emanuel is the Cecil and Ida Green emeritus professor of atmospheric science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was on the faculty from 1981 to 2022. Before that he was on the faculty of UCLA from 1978 to 1981.

Emanuel’s initial focus was on the dynamics of rain and snow banding in winter storms, but his interests gradually migrated to the meteorology of the tropics and to climate change. His specialty is hurricane physics and he was the first to investigate how long-term climate change might affect hurricane activity, an issue that continues to occupy him today. His interests also include cumulus convection, and advanced methods of sampling the atmosphere in aid of numerical weather prediction.

Emanuel is the author or co-author of over 300 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and three books, including Divine Wind: The History and Science of Hurricanes, published by Oxford University Press and aimed at a general audience, and What We Know about Climate Change, published by the MIT Press and now entering its third edition. He was a co-founder and co-director of MIT’s Lorenz Center, a climate think tank devoted to basic, curiosity-driven climate research. He is the Chief Scientific Officer and co- founder of WindRiskTech, LLC, which provides clients with advanced synthetic tropical cyclone events sets for assessing current and future tropical cyclone risks worldwide.

Emanuel is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, a foreign member of the Royal Society, and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society. He is a recipient of the Carl-Gustaf Rossby Research Medal of the American Meteorological Society and the BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in the Climate Change category, among other honors.

Michael C. Morgan, Ph.D. is the assistant secretary of commerce for environmental observation and prediction. In this role, Dr. Morgan is responsible for providing agency-wide direction with regard to weather, water, climate, and ocean observations, including in situ instruments and satellites, and the process of converting observations to predictions for environmental threats.

Dr. Dominique David-Chavez is Director of the Indigenous Land & Data Stewards Lab and Assistant Professor of Indigenous Natural Resource Stewardship at Colorado State University. She works as an Associate with the Native Nations Institute at the Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy at University of Arizona, where she partners with the Collaboratory for Indigenous Data Governance, and is a co-author on the 5th National Climate Assessment Tribes and Indigenous Peoples Chapter currently underway. Dr. David-Chavez draws from her experiences as a multicultural Caribbean Indigenous (Arawak Taíno) community member, research scientist, educator, and learner in her scholarship and practice. In doing so, she holds an intergenerational commitment towards supporting culturally grounded community members as researchers and science leaders, restoring pathways for knowledge regeneration with the original stewards of Indigenous knowledge systems and lands in which they are embedded.

Monica P. Medina joined the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) on June 1, 2023, as President and CEO. She oversees WCS in New York City and across the world in its mission to save wildlife and wild places. She has had a distinguished career in advancing conservation, science, and environmental policy on behalf of people and wildlife working at the highest levels of government, international diplomacy and in nonprofits, and academia. 

Just prior to WCS, Ms. Medina worked in the U.S. Department of State as the first U.S. Diplomat Designated to Advocate for Global Biodiversity and served as U.S. Assistant Secretary for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs. At the U.S. Department of State, Ms. Medina was pivotal to the Biden Administration’s adoption of the 30x30 goal—the protection of at least 30 percent of the planet’s land and oceans by 2030. Further, Medina was a leading negotiator for the U.S. behind the adoption of the historic United Nations agreement to protect marine biodiversity in international waters. In the private sector, Ms. Medina served as the Senior Director for Ocean Policy at the National Geographic Society, and as the ocean lead at the Walton Family Foundation. She was also Co-Founder and Publisher of Our Daily Planet, an e-newsletter on conservation and the environment. 

Ms. Medina attended college on an Army R.O.T.C. scholarship and began her career on active duty in the Army General Counsel’s Office. She received the Department of Defense Medal for Distinguished Public Service and the Army Meritorious Service Medal. She has a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and a J.D. from Columbia Law School.

Mona Behl is the associate director of University of Georgia’s Sea Grant college program where she also holds public service and academic appointments. She was formerly a visiting, and then a non-residential policy fellow with the American Meteorological Society’s (AMS) policy program. Through her many administrative, pedagogical, and editorial roles, Behl promotes the co-production and use of scientific knowledge for improved decision-making. Her research interests include building the adaptative capacity of local communities to manage the impacts of weather and climate, preparing people for the future of work, and broadening participation in geosciences.

Behl is passionate about improving participation, retention, and leadership development of women and minorities in science. She is the founding member of AMS Early Career Leadership Academy, and Sea Grant’s Community Engaged Internship program. She currently co-chairs the Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention program, and serves on the leadership board of Earth Science Women’s Network.

A national award-winning teacher, Behl earned her bachelor’s and master’s degree in physics from Panjab University in India, and doctorate in physical oceanography from Florida State University.
