NASA TOPS OpenCore Workshops

Tuesday & Wednesday, 10 & 11 January 2023 | 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM Mountain | Colorado Convention Center, 401

Open science seems to be everywhere right now, but what is it and how do you do open science? What does it really look like in practice? How does it lead to better results? How does it foster more diverse and inclusive scientific communities and research practices? In the NASA Transform to Open Science (TOPS) OpenCore workshop, we shall introduce the ethos of open science. Learners will become familiar with the definitions central to open science and explore some concrete examples of the benefits of open science principles and practices. The module will include best practices for building open science communities, increasing collaboration, and introducing open principles to project design, as well as an overview of open science norms. This module will also explore the historical impact of “closed” science, and how open science seeks to create a more diverse and equitable scientific community. Come learn OpenCore with TOPS; workshops being held Monday and Thursday 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM and Tuesday and Wednesday 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM in room 401, Colorado Convention Center.
