Volunteer at the 103rd Annual Meeting

How You Can Help

Volunteering at the 103rd Annual Meeting is a great way to expand your network! We are looking for volunteers to help both in person and virtually throughout the week.

Ways to Volunteer

Student Competition Judging

Sunday, 8 January 2023 | 6:30 PM–8:30 PM Mountain | Colorado Convention Center, Hall A

Calling all professionals! Are you planning on attending the 103rd Annual Meeting in Denver? If so, we are looking for help to judge posters at the student conference poster session! If you're interested, fill out the form for more info: https://forms.gle/tcGzsJccEHnqTzmHA.

Speed Networking

Monday, 9 January 2023 | 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM Mountain | Colorado Convention Center, Mile High Ballroom 2C/3C

Please join us for a fun, informal evening of making connections with some of the leading professionals in our field.  Whether you are currently on the job hunt, seeking advice about professional growth, or simply hoping to learn about possible career paths, this event is an excellent opportunity to expand both your knowledge base and your network of contacts.  The format is exactly what the name suggests: with enough time to make a connection and learn something new, “mentees” will interact with rotating groups of “mentors” from a wide range of career and scientific backgrounds.

The event allows students and early career professionals to network with mentors via “speed networking” where the mentors (meteorology and allied discipline professionals) roam between tables at set intervals introducing the students and early professionals to a wide array of professions in the field of meteorology. The speed networking will include a social with light hors d'oeuvres, providing a great time for open networking. This allows the students, the early career professionals, and the mentors of their selected discipline to have extended conversations after their speed-mentoring.

Virtual Networking Moderator

AMS will be hosting a Virtual Networking Breakouts event for remote attendees at the 103rd AMS Annual Meeting. This event will take place virtually, via Zoom, with multiple breakout rooms for attendees to converse with each other on different topics.

You can help choose the topics and lead discussions in virtual rooms, ranging from weather, water, and climate to careers to meeting fellow professionals and making connections. Stay tuned for the ways you can volunteer to take part in conversations with fellow virtual attendees.

Session chairs are responsible for the flow of sessions and speakers. Specific responsibilities can be found here. We encourage you, especially those participating virtually, to familiarize yourself with Zoom.
