Throughout the planning for our fully hybrid 102nd Annual Meeting in January, AMS has been closely monitoring news and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, the World Health Organization, and local health agencies to ensure the health and safety of those who join us in-person in Houston. The recent emergence of the Omicron variant of Covid-19, its subsequent spread, and potential effects on the in-person component of the Annual Meeting is proving to be a cause for concern despite the safeguards, outlined in our Commitment to Care statement, that we intend to carry out.
AMS staff is currently evaluating the ever-changing situation surrounding Covid-19 and its potential impact on the in-person component* of the 102nd Annual Meeting. We are speaking with local health officials, our vendors, and other association meeting professionals to gain additional insight and knowledge into the feasibility and safety of gathering in-person. We also welcome you to provide feedback and comments via this survey.
If you are already registered for the 102nd Annual Meeting, and wish to change your attendance method to/from in-person and remote, please do so by 28 December 2021. Information about registrants’ attendance method will inform our decisions about the meeting.
*Please note that should we decide to make changes in the in-person component of the meeting the meeting schedule will proceed as planned, virtually. We will release another update during the week ending 7 January 2022.
