The American Meteorological Society (AMS) & the Board on Representation, Accessibility, Inclusion, and Diversity (BRAID) are proud to announce the 13th Annual Coriolis reception, which will be held virtually in conjunction with the 2022 AMS Annual Meeting.
This reception celebrates the AMS lesbian–gay–bisexual–transgender–queer (LGBTQ) community and their allies and provides opportunities to mentor, network, and connect with individuals who share common professional and personal interests. Students and professionals at all stages of their careers as well as their relatives are welcome to attend and participate.
This year's reception will feature opening remarks from Judge Steven Kirkland, the first openly gay elected district judge in Texas and an advocate for LGBT rights. Judge Kirkland's biography can be found at the bottom of this page. The reception will be held on Gather, which will provide the ability to casually mingle in a virtual space with new and old friends.
Visit the Coriolis landing page on Gather to download a calendar invite and also to join the event on Monday evening (the event will open at 6:45pm CST): https://gather.town/events/qhUw0FLNcfYu8A8wK7QI
The password to enter the space is coriolis22
Plan to join a few minutes early to create your Gather avatar and complete a brief tutorial on how to use Gather
The larger AMS LGBTQ community is also encouraged to attend this event, even if they are not attending the Annual Meeting, and should reach out to Gaige Kerr ([email protected]) for information on how to join.
Attendees are encouraged to follow AMSBRAID and Coriolis: LGBTQIA+Friends in AMS on Facebook and @amsbriad on Twitter for relevant updates and announcements. For additional information, please contact Gaige Kerr ([email protected]).
