Symposium on Strategies for Addressing the Climate Crisis: Mitigation, Restoration, and Communication, 15 January 2020, Rm 254B

This symposium includes an overview talk and four panel discussions. Panelists will include experts in climate mitigation and restoration technologies, representatives of integrated assessment modeling groups, policymakers and advocates for specific legislation, and leaders of political policy organizations. Topics addressed during the symposium may include:

 

  • The status of the climate system carbon budget
  • Observed and expected impacts of climate change
  • Transformative technologies, especially in the energy sector 
  • Comparisons with previous economic transformations
  • Energy and human development
  • Proposed policy solutions
  • Legislation before the US Congress
  • Educating the public in a polarized political environment

 

At the end of each sessions ample time will be provided for audience Q&A. Panelists will be by invitation only.
