THEME:  Bridging the Global Divide: Advancing Global Cooperation and Capacity in Weather, Water, and Climate Science and Services

As the global community faces an era of unprecedented environmental, economic, and social volatility, the need for seamless international collaboration across the weather, water, and climate (WWC) enterprise has never been more urgent. The AMS International Symposium serves as a premier forum for knowledge and information exchange, aiming to synchronize international priorities with the evolving needs of the global scientific community. Central to this dialogue is the “warning-for-all” initiative - a critical end-to-end framework that resonates across public, private, and academic sectors. By leveraging AMS’s formal partnerships with other meteorological societies, including the International Forum of Meteorological Societies (IFMS), this symposium will bring together a diverse cohort of global speakers to address global needs, gaps, and opportunities related to modernizing early warning systems. 

To ensure the agenda is grounded in reality, the AMS International Affairs committee will conduct a pre-symposium survey to identify the specific capabilities, data gaps, and infrastructure needs of emerging economies. The symposium will feature a curated mix of invited experts and an open call for papers, beginning with a foundational assessment of current global gaps and concluding with a high-level strategic discussion. Insights garnered from the survey and the symposium’s proceedings will culminate in a formal publication in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society (BAMS), providing a roadmap for future international policy, professional development, and capacity-building initiatives.
