Abstract Fee and Author Instructions
All presenters must also register for the meeting.

The Second Symposium on Weather Radar is sponsored by the American Meteorological Society and organized by the AMS Committee on Radar Meteorology.

This symposium is devoted to current and next generation weather radars, with emphasis on radar meteorology science, weather radar applications, weather radar signal processing, weather radar prototype developments, experimental weather radar data collections, essentially all radar meteorological algorithms, and program updates.  Presentations about advanced radar technologies, including phased array radars, polarimetry, multi-function scan strategies, retrieval algorithms, signal processing for clutter rejection, etc. will be a focus of these sessions.

The second rendition of this new symposium will be held at the 107th AMS Annual Meeting in Denver, CO, and it is a pivot from the traditional EIPT - Radar Technologies and Applications sessions within the EIPT Conference of the AMS Annual Meeting.  The increased in participation in the weather radar community outgrew the EIPT joint-session format, and an entirely new symposium was offered in January of 2026 with great success to better serve the weather radar community.  The new tradition will continue in January of 2027.

Call for Papers

Abstracts for the 2nd Symposium on Weather Radar are solicited for the four topic areas listed below.

Researchers and administrators from academia, government, and industry are encouraged to participate.  Selections for both oral and poster presentations will include a broad range of career stages.  Topics that are not deemed relevant specifically to weather radar may be transferred to other conferences at the AMS Annual Meeting.  Authors may indicate their preference for an oral or poster presentation during abstract submission; those authors presenting more than one paper should clearly indicate which they prefer for a possible oral presentation.  All abstracts and presentations will be available on the AMS website, as the Symposium on Weather Radar aims to maximize the impact of each author’s impact.
