The Second Annual Disaster and Emergency Management Symposium is soliciting papers on the following topics:
Innovative Approaches to Assessing and Managing Wildfire Risk
When Nuclear Weapons Are Used: Radioactive Dispersion and Other Consequences
Training and Education Training Session: Abstracts relating to ongoing or future weather and earth science training and topics for emergency management professionals and practitioners. Also open to academic presentations relating to weather training needs, gaps, or developments.
Emergency Management Uncovered: Decoding the profession of emergency management and highlighting key needs relating to atmospheric science and meteorology in data, decisions, or mitigation projects. This session targets emergency management speakers to speak on their experiences and needs and challenges for the meteorological community.
Emergency Management Technology Session: Abstracts relating to siren and warning systems, flood monitoring or weather monitoring systems, AI in disasters, wildfire assessment technology
Digital Communication: Abstracts relating to the use of digital technology to reach emergency management professionals and/or the public with risk based information, forecast information, and ongoing disaster response/recovery information.
Emergency Management Decisions: Abstracts decoding how decision processes work, including evacuation, EOC activation, resource management, and alert system programs.
