Student Award Opportunities

Student Presentation Awards

We are proud to provide outstanding student paper awards as well as honorable mentions. The outstanding student paper award recognizes outstanding student papers based on evaluations of both the submitted paper abstracts and corresponding oral or poster presentations. In particular, students selected for the award should demonstrate outstanding qualities, including the following:

  • significance of the work and originality and creativity of the approach;
  • clear explanation of methods;
  • visual clarity (clarity of figures, appropriate font sizes, effective use of space, headings, etc.);
  • organization and logical structure (e.g., clearly stated questions, results and conclusions);
  • conclusions supported by data and analysis;
  • author’s knowledge of the subject matter including awareness of prior research in the field;
  • presentation style (e.g., engagement, pacing);
  • and ability to answer questions.

To be eligible for the awards, you must be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at a university at the time of submission, and you also must be the lead author, personally presenting your own work. Students must indicate whether they wish to be considered for a paper award when submitting their abstracts. Award recipients will be informed of the committee's decision by late February 2026.

Student Presenter Travel Allowances

The 18th Symposium on Aerosol–Cloud–Climate Interactions is awarding two (2) travel grants of up to $400 each to allow student presenters to attend the AMS 106th Annual Meeting in Houston, TX 25 - 29 January 2026. The award should be used to offset travel related expenses only (registration fees, transportation, lodging and food). To apply, students (Undergraduate and Post-Graduate) should prepare a short written statement (no more than one page) declaring their financial need and circumstance, relevance of their research to the conference, how they will benefit from attending the conference and a copy of their abstract for the meeting. Students who wish to apply must submit their application to the program chairs via email with the subject line “AMS 106th Annual Meeting - Student Presenter Travel Allowance Application”: Xue Zheng ([email protected]), Emily De Jong ([email protected]), Xiquan Dong ([email protected]), and Michael Diamond ([email protected]).

Deadline for applications: 31 October 2025

Recipients will be notified on or before: 7 November 2025
