Student Award Opportunities

Student Presentation Awards

The 24th Symposium on the Coastal Environment is proud to provide outstanding student presentation awards at the AMS 106th Annual Meeting. Monetary awards of up to $50 will be distributed for oral presentations and poster presentations in addition to a PDF certificate from AMS. Students must be enrolled at a college or university at the time of submission and must be the lead author or presenter of the work. Submitters should indicate their eligibility for student awards when submitting their abstracts. Award recipients will be informed of the committee's decision by late February 2026.

Student Presenter Travel Allowances

The 24th Symposium on the Coastal Environment is awarding four (4) travel grants of up to $360 each to allow student presenters to attend the AMS 106th Annual Meeting in Houston, TX 25 - 29 January 2026. The award should be used to offset travel related expenses only (registration fees, transportation, lodging and food). To apply, students (Undergraduate and Post-Graduate) should prepare a short written statement (no more than one page) declaring their financial need and circumstance, relevance of their research to the conference, how they will benefit from attending the conference and a copy of their abstract for the meeting. Students who wish to apply must submit their application to the program chairs via email with the subject line “AMS 106th Annual Meeting - Student Presenter Travel Allowance Application”: Gregory Dusek ([email protected]) and Kendra Dresback ([email protected]).

Deadline for applications: 31 October 2025

Recipients will be notified on or before: 7 November 2025
