What to Expect

Before the meeting
  • Check the online program to confirm your presentation date and time
  •  Let everyone know that you’ll be presenting on Twitter. Include the #AMS2022 hashtag and @ametsoc handle.
  • Register at the In-Person Presenter Rate
  • Visit Presenter's Corner to manage your abstract:
  • Confirm/Change Presentation Method: Remote/In-Person (by 8 November)
  • Check/Change Abstract Title (by 8 November)
  • Check/Change Author Listing (by 8November)
  • Upload PDF of Poster Optional
  • Upload Image(s) Optional
  • Upload PDF of Slides Optional 
    • PDF File Upload (for Poster or Oral) Guidelines:

      There is a 200 MB file size limit.
      The following file types may be uploaded: PDF document (*.pdf).

  • Upload Extended Abstract (by 25 February)
    • Extended Abstract Guidelines:

      There is a 100 MB file size limit.
      The following file types may be uploaded: PDF document (*.pdf).

  • Add a Supplementary URL (by 25 February)
  • Withdraw Abstract
  • Prepare your Poster
  • Read In-Person Poster Presenter emails sent from the AMS Meetings Department for more information on managing your abstract online and giving your presentation.
  • Look for an email notification from other attendees asking  about your abstract via asynchronous chat feature in the online program and mobile app. Be sure to respond to get a discussion going!
During the meeting
  • In-Person Poster Sessions will take place: Saturday, 22 January 6:00pm-8:00pm
What will I present?
  • The Standard Poster Display is a 4'H x 6'W (1.2m x 1.8m) (a NEW smaller size) double-sided Velcro covered panel. These panels have a horizontal/landscape orientation. Presenters are not permitted to move the boards or change the orientation.
    • If you are presenting a poster in-person you can use Fedex in the Hilton to print out your poster. With this link you can create your order to be picked up at the Hilton.
  • You can mount your poster with AMS supplied push pins or Velcro. 
  • Only one accepted abstract/topic is allowed on each board. If you are scheduled to present 2 posters within the same session, please contact the Meetings Department ([email protected]) and we can work on changing the placement of the posters as soon as possible.
  • Feel free to bring handouts or upload your poster image to Presenter’s Corner to reference during formal poster viewing hours.
  • Want to use your laptop to enhance your poster? Send us a table request before the meeting to [email protected]. Please note that we can not provide electricity or internet in the poster halls.
  • Want to point people to even more information about your poster? Include a QR Code. Information on QR codes, including reader software and code generators, is available online (http://www.mobile-barcodes.com/).
After the meeting

  • Upload Supplementary Info in Presenter's Corner:
    • Upload Extended Abstract (by 25 February)
    • Upload Optional PDF Presentation Slide File (by 25 February)
    • Add a Supplementary URL (by 25 February)

 

Tips for your Poster Presentation:

  • Place the title at the top center of the poster.
  • Use 72 point letters.
  • Avoid hand drawn materials.
  • Keep it simple.
  • Do not post the pages of your paper.
  • Make sure it has a logical flow.
  • Use color, graphics, charts, and photos.
  • Key points should be in large type.
  • Do not try to tell the entire story on the panel.
  • Save some key points for the one-on-one discussion.
  • Avoid the following color combinations: Green&Red; Green&Brown; Blue&Purple; Green&Blue; Light Green&Yellow; Blue&Grey; Green&Grey; Green&Black
  • At this time, we ask Presenting Authors to begin making arrangements in case of a government shutdown.  Please plan to have your own contingency plan in the event that you will not be able to join us in Houston regardless of your government status (i.e. travel issues due to weather, illness, etc.). This includes identifying a backup presenter and sharing a preliminary version of the presentation.
