The 24th Symposium on Boundary Layers and Turbulence is organized by the AMS Committee on Boundary Layers and Turbulence and hosted by the American Meteorological Society.
Call for Papers
Papers for the 24th Symposium on Boundary Layers and Turbulence are solicited on the following:
Renewable Energy and Boundary Layer Processes;
Surface-Atmosphere Exchanges Across Scales;
Boundary Layers and Turbulence over Heterogeneous Terrain;
The Stable Boundary Layer and the ABL over Ice and Snow Surfaces;
The Convective ABL and Clouds;
Flow and Turbulence in Complex Terrain: Urban and Vegetated Canopies and Topographical Effects, Transfer to it all abstracts in old, in coordination with Board on Urban Environment;
Boundary Layer Parameterizations in Models Across Scales;
Boundary Layer Theory Beyond the Textbook ABL: Unsteadiness, Advection, Baroclinicity and other often ignore physical processes;
New data source and analyses methods in BLT studies: ML, AI, and novel sensing and modeling techniques;
The Fire ABL: Developing the Understanding of an Increasingly Critical Threat.
Please note: You will be able to make revisions to existing abstracts when the abstract submission portal opens in June. All updates to existing abstracts must be made by 24 August.
Joint Sessions
Innovative Technological Advances for Mesoscale Observing Systems (Joint between the 23rd Symposium on Meteorological Observation and Instrumentation, the 11th Symposium on the Weather, Water, and Climate Enterprise and the Special Symposium on Boundary Layers and Turbulence)
Student Award Opportunities
The Symposium will host a student competition and award exemplary poster and oral presentations. Students must be the first author and presenting their own, original work. Students who wish to be considered for this prize must indicate their eligibility when submitting their abstract.
