Call for Papers

Papers for the Fifth Special Symposium on Tropical Meteorology and Tropical Cyclones are solicited on the following:

  • Other Topics in Tropical Meteorology and Tropical Cyclones
  • Tropical cyclone intensity and structure
  • Tropical cyclones in the future climate
  • Tropical Cyclones: Observations, Data Assimilation, and Forecasting
  • Tropical dynamics and future projection
  • Tropical waves, observation, and intraseasonal variability

  • Extreme Maritime Weather – Met-Ocean Services, Science, and Observations to Enhance Decision Making in the Expanding Blue Economy (Joint between the 11th Symposium on the Weather, Water, and Climate Enterprise, the Fifth Special Symposium on Tropical Meteorology and Tropical Cyclones, and the 19th Annual Symposium on New Generation Operational Environmental Satellite Systems)

Student Award Opportunities

The Fifth Special Symposium on Tropical Meteorology and Tropical Cyclones will host a student paper competition with award certificates and cash prizes for exemplary undergraduate and graduate student oral and poster presentations. Students must be the first author and presenting their own, original work. Students who wish to be considered for this prize must indicate their eligibility when submitting their abstract.

 

Once abstracts have been submitted, the Tropical Meteorology/Tropical Cyclone committee
will offer three student presenter travel funds to students whose abstracts have been accepted. Students who wish to apply must send the following documents to the program chairs (
[email protected] and [email protected]v) no later than 15 October 2022.

  • Statement of why they wish to attend the AMS Annual Meeting
  • Statement of commitment to attend if they receive the travel grant
  • Letter of support from their adviser
