The 10th Conference on Environment and Health is sponsored by the American Meteorological Society and organized by the AMS Board on Environment and Health.

Topics Covered

Papers for this conference are solicited on the following:

  • adapting to climate challenges: reports from the American Southwest;
  • aerosols, aeroallergens, and health;
  • economic impacts of extremes;
  • hurricanes and health: when will we stop “learning lessons” and start building smarter?;
  • interventions for urban-scale heat risk reduction and long-term mitigation;
  • new directions for remote Earth observing systems: applications of satellite data in health, environmental management, and public outreach;
  • research to action: use of weather and climate information for health early warning systems;
  • thermal extremes and health: understanding the pathways from exposure to outcomes;
  • too hot to handle: multidisciplinary perspectives on extreme heat as disaster (Themed Joint Session) (Joint with the 24th Conference on Applied Climatology); 
  • understanding linkages between drought and public health: Can we improve drought early warning?;
  • understanding the impacts of extreme weather and climate anomalies on infectious disease ecology and implications for forecasting transmission risk;
  • wildfires and health impacts.
